At the moment, now when a tourists are coming back, drivers may desperately seek some income even to the extend of charging extremely low prices just to cover the petrol and put some food on the table.

We kindly suggest, that when arranging for transportation, to compensate drivers on a fair basis for their services.

Transportation from Medan to Lake Toba and Horas Family Home

We have no business interest in any of the transportation aspects of your journey. Notwithstanding, we are ready to arrange for your transportation under our credo ‘EXCLUSIVE & EXCELLENT’, but this comes at a cost. Apart from us arranging for your transportation you have quite some different options such as public transport, shared taxi, chartered taxi etc, and you are most welcome to arrange for your own transportation as you think fit.

Till a few years ago we sometimes recommended a company to arrange for car & driver for our guests. Car and driver over which we did not have any control. Sometimes the guests ended up with a very old car and the full smoking crazy racing star driver training for the upcoming F1 races. Sometimes the guests ending up in extremely expensive Restaurants for lunch and in the end the guests holding us responsible as we did recommend such transporter, driver, car. We have concluded that we cannot afford recommending transporters drivers (and cars) over which we don’t have full control.

Transportation arranged for by HORAS FAMILY HOME ITSELF comes ‘Exclusive and Excellent’ and is more a combination of sightseeing and transportation than transportation only. All our drivers come with a brand new or rather new cars such as Kijang Innova, Avanza, Suzuki APV or similar type and make, with AC. In our drivers you will find safe and reliable drivers who will not smoke in the car. Transportation costs include cost for the driver, petrol, toll road and regular parking fees along the road. On request we will try to find an English speaking driver at no extra costs. Entrance fees of tourist attraction points and ferry costs are not included.

We are ready to arrange for your transportation from picking you up from the Airport and dropping you off at the Airport at the end of your tour. We basically cover all of North Sumatra including transport to and from places like Ketambe, Tangkahan, Bukit Lawang, Medan, Berastagi, Parapat, Samosir, and Bukittinggi.

It will be our pleasure to prepare together with you a detailed itinerary and realistic time schedule for going from A to B based on your preferences. For example possible stops en-route Medan – Parapat via Berastagi are Marian Shrine of Annai Velangkanni Church, Hotsprings Berastagi, Shwedagon Pagoda, Fruit and Vegetable Market Berastagi, Gundaling Hill for distant view of Sinabung and Sibayak Volcanoes, Dokan, Si Piso Piso Waterfall, Tongging, Rumah Purba, Simarjarunjung and Tanjung Unta.

We only arrange for transportation services for guests actually staying with us. Therefore, we will only provide detailed itinerary and time schedules after we have confirmed your reservation with us.

Examples of Transportation Costs:

Route Medan or Airport via Pematang Siantar to Parapat Rp 1.100.000,--

Route Medan – Berastagi – Parapat Rp 1.500.000,--

Route Airport - Medan - Berastagi - Parapat Rp 1.800.000,--

Transportation during the High Season

During the High Season for example Hari Raja, Christmas, New Year and Imlek, regular transporters will raise the transportation costs with 10 to 15%. As quite a few times we work together with regular transporters such higher transportation costs may also be reflected in our transportation costs.

For bigger groups we are ready to arrange for transportation with bigger cars. Bigger cars such as ISUZU ELF VIP 10, 12 and 15 SEATERS. For real big groups we are ready to arrange for a 29 seater ANUGRAH TOURIST COACH.
